The Global History Reading Session was Held by GHC

   On June 7th, the global history reading session was held by Global History Center of Capital Normal University at the conference room of the History School. The theme of the reading was to discuss Conrad's new book in Chinese, What is Global History. The scholars attending included GHC teachers and two special invited guests, who are Du Xianbing of Tianjin Normal University and Professor Zhang Xupeng, researcher of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Associate professor Yue Xiukun chaired the meeting.

  At the beginning of the reading session, as the translator of this book, that is What is Global History, Du Xianbing introduced the background, structure and characteristics of the book. Then Professor Zhang Xupeng gave his opinion on this book from the perspective of national historiography. Professor Liu Wenming also pointed out two contentious issues in this book. Professor Xia Jiguo gave high appraisal of the translation of this book by Du Xianbing. At the end of the meeting, other GHC teachers also gave their comments on the new book from their own focus.

  The reading session took place in an orderly and enthusiastic atmosphere. At one time the teachers present argued fiercely on the global history writing. All the teachers and students who attended the meeting felt that they had gained a lot.
